This course is a one year intensive programme in office technology. It is designed for mature students and for those who may have left the world of work and who now wish to return. The aim of the course is to provide students with skills, training and confidence that will enable them to pursue a career in the modern office environment. Successful students will be awarded a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Office Administration. All students complete a two week work experience placement as part of their studies on this course.
A minimum of 8 modules must be completed for certification made up of mandatory and electives, see list opposite. Choice of modules is decided by CCFE and subject to annual staffing/college resources.
Successful graduates of this course may progress to a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Business here at Castlebar College of Further Education. Alternatively they may choose to complete a Level 7 or Level 8 in a related field in an Institute of Technology or University. Employment opportunities exist in office administration and IT positions in the public sector.
